Following their first full-length release “Stoic” in 2003, The Alpha Centauri, of Minneapolis, had fallen off the radar. Almost 4 years later, rehearsals began with a new lineup of musicians including Coach Said Not To bassist, Linnea Mohn, as well as Chris Koza and Haley Bonar’s drummer, Luke Anderson. The Alpha Centauri is back and has adopted a strong initiative to independently reach a national audience. They have played shows with such artists as The Heartless Bastards, Asobi Seksu, Minus 5, and Earlimart. October of 2008 marked the completion of their self-produced album, “Lavarocks”, which was pre-released and sold on the band’s first east coast tour. “Lavarocks,” has met unanimous adoration among local critics and independent radio. The album has also inspired collaborations between producer/song writer Lance Conrad and artists Halloween Alaska, Mystery Palace, Chris Thomson, and members of the Foo Fighters touring band. Following their official release on April 24th, 2009, The Alpha Centauri will be back on the road, touring the west coast in May.
