Living in self imposed exile in Paris, Dan Black meshes sounds and genres with the same fluidity, ease and cultural nous as his heroes David Bowie and The Neptunes to create his own blue-eyed culture clash of soul, hip hop, rock and electronica and the result is utterly beguiling. Dan is currently at work on his debut album, which is set for release in early 2009.

If you've been paying attention to end of year polls, the BBC's Sound of 2009, or even browsing this here website, you'll more than likely have heard of Dan Black.

Hyped for his Notorious BIG (and Rhianna sampling) cover Hypntz, and gaining more and more fame for recent single Yours, the former Servant lead singer looks set to have a pretty bright solo career.

His highly anticipated forthcoming debut album will be released May 25 2009 and is currently being recorded in an 18th Century cellar under Dan's apartment in Paris, before it's mixed by Tom Elmhirst (Hot Chip, Amy Winehouse, The Kills) in London. This is 5 track sampler of it, title is TBA.
