Joe Volume - "Oh Lord!": SXSW 2012 Showcasing Artist

Joe Volume is a 24 year old singer songwriter from Mexico City, he grew up in LA. He started his career in 2006 with his self-released EP "Real, not right" with his then band "Los Vincent Black Shadows", pretty soon the band decamped to Montreal after an invitation to play there. They ended up doing a small US and Canadian tour. Upon return Joe recorded and produced the band´s first LP "I (heart) broken (hearts)" playing all the instruments himself. The album, released in 2007, was a major hit both with the critics and the public. With two singles in heavy rotation on local radio stations and award nominations the band played for a year and a half before playing for 10000 people at a show with Los Dynamite (now Rey Pila) and The Mexican Institute of Sound. Joe decided to end the band for good after the show mainly because he wanted to record another album while his bandmates wanted to rest. Taking only lead guitarrist B.Riot with him, the pair started working on songs and established themselves as a duo recording the album with different backing bands and rhythm sections. The result "Picture Perfect Paranoia" was released in 2008 and gave the band the award for Best Punk/Garage album at the Indie-O Music Awards in their 2010 edition. The band had already earned a nomination for Best New Artist in the 2007 edition.
