    The Tascam has a mic stand connector. You could technically put the whole tascam on a boom and use the built in microphones, depending on how your shot is framed. If you're too far away then you'll need the shotgun mic.

    If I purchase a SONY FS100 with an on board sound mixer with XLR inputs do I still need to purchase all the items mentioned in your video? I know I can Improve on the standard mic that comes with the camera but what's about the FS 100 's sound quality?

    No dude :) The NTG2 is a microphone. The Tascam DR-100 is a field recorder.

    could you please make a video showing how to setup a field mixer with a recorder, so that you can shoot a long shot with your shotgun mic without the risk of getting much noise, when you pull up the gain..
