In the summer of 2005, the vocalist Eva Weel Scram and guitarist/producer Thomas Stenersen met in a studio. One year later the duo Eva & the Heartmaker was established and the debut album “ Behind Golden Frames” was ensconced on record store shelves. “Catchy, light, intimate and melodious pop, with a vocalist who has something unique going for her. Can this be the start of something big?” wrote Fredrik Wandrup from the tabloid daily Dagbladet about the album that Eva and Thomas released on their own label, via the distributor Musikkoperatørene.

The album garnered its fair share of attention. The single “Stupid Heart” was the title track of the Norwegian film “Mars & Venus” in 2007 and the track “ I am the Sun” was also in the Hit 40 for a while.

Right after the release the international industry showed its interest, something which lead to a publishing contract with Swedish Air-Chrysalis and “Album of the Week” on Danish P4, in addition to B-listing of “Stupid Heart” on the same radio station.

The last year the band has mainly been working in the studio with new material, whilst also performing a number of concerts throughout Scandinavia. Since the previous album, the music has taken a rougher direction and stands as more consistent than earlier, with a twist in the expression that is inspired by The Beatles (especially their “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” album), the Cardigans and The Raconteurs.
